Hosting local artists is an important way to contribute to and participate in our local community. We believe that the hands of local artisans can nourish our community in a variety of ways.
In our downtown Montpelier cafe, we feature new works quarterly. Art is available to view and purchase during business hours, but will remain displayed for the duration of the 3 month show.

Susan Bull Riley
Painter of Vermont's Natural World
Currently on display at Red Hen Bakery & Cafe are the oil and watercolor works of Susan Bull Riley, whose inspiration stems from the landscapes, birds and plants of the Green Mountains.
"My work is imbued with a classical ethos, perhaps reflecting my earlier career as a concert flutist with a specialty in seventeenth and eighteenth century music. I study the work of artists I admire while seeking to protect that which I value most – that private place from where my desire to paint springs, that desire to internalize, via painting, the magnitude of the beauty around me and the affection I bear for my subjects.”
