The Origins of Red hen baking

Red Hen Baking Co. was established in 1999 in Duxbury, Vermont by husband and wife team Randy George and Eliza Cain with the goal of baking and delivering fresh bread to local stores 7 days a week. With the immense support of our community, Red Hen now employees a staff of over 50 and has expanded to include our own cafe in Middlesex, VT. We still bake and deliver freshly baked, organic bread 7 days a week to coops and independent grocery stores and restaurants across Vermont and New Hampshire.

Our Food sourcing rules

It is always been our belief that a business should do more than simply provide the goods and services that are their main reason for being. You may remember the fairy tale that we named the bakery for. Well, our tale of the Little Red Hen turned out a little differently. In our story, the barnyard animals did help out. We simply wouldn’t be here without the community support that we have gotten from day one. Like any good hen, we feel a responsibility to do what we can to nurture the community that has nurtured us.
